About the Book

I’m Victor Kaine. Deputy Headmaster of Ravenwick Academy, and a Battle Mage whose superpower is switching everybody else’s magic off. On occasion, that’s a pretty snazzy party trick. And on the seventeenth of December it’s the only thing standing between my extremely pregnant, extremely Category Five squeeze and a crater where Ravenwick Academy used to be.

As if that wasn’t enough to be going along with, the damned Ministry of Magic have sealed our vault shut, the Anchors that hold the Veil shut are down to two, and the thing that’s been protecting the Academy since 1643 has finally come calling for its toll. It turns out it wants Luna, and a man on the High Council has let it know the details of the one night she’ll be flat on her back and very much out of ammunition.

There’s a fight in the dark coming. One of my girls will be holding the door against all invaders, another will be delivering the baby and the third will be keeping us all alive. Oh, and now there’s a government inspector we’ve all just voted onto the Cadre team who has some very… specific requests as her criteria for joining up.
